DoseHalo is built to help you manage medication without asking you to hand over your health history. This policy explains, in plain language, what stays on your device, what the DoseHalo backend ever sees, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, contact us at support@dosehalo.com.
The short version
Your medication names and full dose history stay on your device and in your personal iCloud. They are never sent to a DoseHalo server. The backend only handles the minimum needed to link a caregiver to a box and to deliver alerts, plus dose-outcome events that are kept for 90 days. Analytics are anonymous and off by default. We never sell your data.
What stays on your device (and in your iCloud)
The following information is stored locally on your iPhone and synced only through your own private iCloud account using Apple's end-to-end infrastructure. It is never transmitted to, or readable by, DoseHalo:
- Medication names, dosages, and notes you enter.
- Your full dose history and adherence record.
- Your schedules and reminder settings.
- The pairing details that let the app talk to your box over Bluetooth.
Because this data lives in your iCloud, it is available on your devices and covered by Apple's privacy protections. If you delete the app and its iCloud data, this information is gone.
What the DoseHalo backend handles
To make caregiver alerts and cross-device delivery work, a small amount of information is processed on our servers. This is deliberately kept to the minimum and never includes your medication names.
Identities
An anonymous account identifier is used to associate you with your boxes and any caregiver links. This identifier does not contain your name or medication details.
Box and caregiver links
When you connect a box or invite a caregiver, we store the relationship between the identifiers involved (which account owns which box, and which caregiver is permitted to receive alerts for it) so alerts reach the right person.
Push notification tokens (APNs)
To send reminders and caregiver alerts, we store the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token for your device. This token lets Apple deliver a notification to your phone and cannot be used to read data from it.
Dose-outcome events
When a dose is recorded as taken, missed, or unsure, an event containing the outcome and a timestamp. but not the medication name. may be sent to the backend so that caregiver alerts can be triggered. These dose-outcome events are retained for 90 days and then deleted automatically.
Analytics
Any product analytics are anonymous and turned off by default. If you choose to turn analytics on, we collect aggregate, non-identifying usage information to help improve the app. We do not use analytics to build a profile of you, and analytics never include your medication names or dose history.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data to anyone, for any purpose.
- We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
- We do not send your medication names to any server, including our own.
- We do not require the original Memo Box account or service to use DoseHalo.
Subscriptions
DoseHalo Pro is handled through Apple's App Store. Payment and billing information is processed by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy; DoseHalo does not receive or store your payment details.
Your choices and rights
- You can turn analytics on or off at any time in the app's settings.
- You can remove a caregiver link, which deletes the associated relationship on the backend.
- You can delete your local and iCloud data by removing the app and its iCloud storage.
- You can request deletion of any backend records associated with your identifier by contacting support@dosehalo.com.
Children
DoseHalo is intended for adults managing medication for themselves or someone in their care. It is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how DoseHalo handles data, we will update this page and revise the date above. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
